Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This is a translation for convenience. The German version of this privacy policy is the legally binding one.

In this privacy policy we explain which personal data we process when you visit gridz.ch, for what purpose, and what rights you have. We follow the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, in force since 1 September 2023) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Principles

We process personal data only to the extent required to run this website, answer your enquiries or moderate comments. We do not sell personal data and we do not pass it on to third parties for advertising purposes.

Hosting and server logs

This website is operated with an external hosting provider. When the website is accessed, technically necessary data is recorded automatically in server log files, in particular:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of access
  • page or file requested
  • volume of data transferred and status code
  • browser type, operating system and referrer URL

We need this data to deliver the website securely and reliably, to analyse errors and to prevent misuse. It is not merged with other data and is deleted after a short period, unless it is needed to investigate a security incident. Under the GDPR, the legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Contact form and email

If you contact us through the contact form or by email, we process the details you provide (for example name, email address, company, topic and message) in order to answer your enquiry and clarify any follow-up questions.

We use these details for that purpose only. We delete them as soon as they are no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations apply or a contractual relationship arises from the enquiry. Under the GDPR, the legal basis is your enquiry or the initiation of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) together with our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Blog comments

You can leave comments underneath blog posts. In doing so we process:

  • Name: shown publicly alongside your comment. You may also use a pseudonym.
  • Email address (optional): not published. We use it only to contact you about your comment if needed.
  • Comment text: shown publicly.
  • IP hash: we generate a non-reversible hash value from your IP address. It serves solely to prevent spam and misuse. We do not store the IP address itself.
  • Timestamp of when the comment was submitted.

Comments are moderated. We reserve the right not to publish or to remove comments, in particular where content is unlawful, abusive or promotional.

If you would like a comment deleted, a short message to hello@gridz.ch is enough. Under the GDPR, the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time, together with our legitimate interest in preventing spam (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Spam protection with Cloudflare Turnstile

To protect the contact form and the comment function against automated submissions (spam, bots), we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a service provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

Turnstile uses technical characteristics of your browser (for example IP address, browser and device information) to check whether a submission comes from a human. This data is transmitted to Cloudflare and used solely for spam prevention. Turnstile does not set cookies for advertising or tracking purposes.

Transfer to the USA cannot be ruled out. Cloudflare is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and additionally uses standard contractual clauses. Further information is available in Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Under the GDPR, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in effective spam protection (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

No tracking cookies

We do not use tracking or marketing cookies, and no analytics tools that follow your behaviour across websites. Where technically necessary data is stored in your browser (for example to display the website), it serves the function of the website only.

Disclosure to third parties

We pass personal data to third parties only where this is required for the purposes named in this privacy policy (for example our hosting provider, or Cloudflare for spam protection), where we are legally obliged to do so, or where you have consented. Our service providers process the data on our behalf and in line with our instructions.

Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. This website is transmitted in encrypted form (HTTPS).

Your rights

Under applicable data protection law you have, in particular, the following rights:

  • Information on whether and which personal data we process about you
  • Rectification of incorrect personal data
  • Deletion of your personal data, where no retention obligations apply
  • Restriction of processing and objection to processing
  • Release or transfer of data in a common electronic format
  • Withdrawal of consent given, with effect for the future

A message to hello@gridz.ch is enough to exercise your rights. We may ask for proof of identity in order to prevent misuse.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. In Switzerland this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch. For individuals in the EEA, the data protection authority of their country of residence is responsible.

We may amend this privacy policy at any time, for example when we introduce new functionality. The version published on this page is the one that applies.
