Health insurer: platform migration with release and cutover management
The starting point:
- The existing solution was outdated and costly to maintain.
- Configurations and special rules had grown over years, with no complete overview.
- Customer service had to stay reachable throughout the migration.
- A fixed date, a fixed budget and new connections to the core systems.
How we worked:
- A full inventory and a clear migration plan.
- Clean-up and simplification before the migration.
- Release and cutover planning per stage, with tests as the approval criterion.
- Taking over day-to-day operations after go-live.
Project course:
- Analyse: inventory, dependencies and risks.
- Plan: target architecture, migration and release plan.
- Deliver: migration in stages with cutover and fallback plan.
- Operate: monitoring, changes and support.
What we delivered:
- Migration and release plan with clear stages and responsibilities.
- Cutover planning with checklists and a fallback scenario for every stage.
- Automated tests as the approval gate before every go-live.
- Connection to the core systems, documentation and training.

The challenge
The health insurer ran its customer service platform on a solution that had aged. Every change was laborious, and over the years numerous configurations and special rules had accumulated that nobody had a full overview of any more.
The migration to the cloud had a fixed date and a fixed budget. And customer service could not be down for a single day: policyholders call when they have a question about an invoice or a cost approval – not when it happens to suit a migration.
How we worked
First we recorded everything that runs today and decided together with the client what would be kept, simplified or dropped. From that came the migration plan: target architecture on Genesys Cloud, connections to the core systems and a split into clearly delimited stages.
We treated every stage like a release: with a cutover plan, checklists, a fallback scenario and clear responsibilities. Nothing was approved until the automated tests for the affected processes were green. That way defects showed up in testing – not at go-live.
The result
- The migration was completed on time and on budget.
- The platform runs entirely in the cloud, clearer and easier to adjust.
- Every stage went live under control, backed by tests and a cutover plan.
- Architecture and configuration are fully documented.
After go-live the insurer also commissioned gridz to run the platform. We monitor it, implement changes and develop the solution further.
